Lineage Logistics, a leading cold storage provider, faced significant roofing challenges at one of its freezer facilities. The existing EPDM membrane and stone ballast system had aged beyond its lifespan, requiring a full tear-off and replacement. The insulation, originally designed to maintain a freezer environment at negative four degrees Fahrenheit, had likely lost efficiency after prolonged exposure to extreme cold. The challenge was balancing the need for a high-performance roof while keeping costs within budget.

The Solution

Our team provided a customized solution that strengthened the roof while maintaining cost efficiency. Rather than replacing all insulation, we installed an additional 1.5-inch layer of high-quality insulation to improve energy efficiency. A new, durable white TPO membrane was fully adhered to create a seamless, watertight barrier that both prevents leaks and reflects heat, helping maintain cold storage temperatures. The project included special waterproofing treatments at transition points, custom-fabricated metal edging and gutters for improved drainage, and careful integration with existing roof sections. Our team managed complex logistics, including vacuum trucks for stone ballast removal and strategic forklift access planning to minimize operational disruption.
