Addressing Leak Concerns at Jimmy Madison's Outdoor Seating Roof

Our team is excited to be working in downtown Harrisonburg, VA, at Jimmy Madison’s outdoor seating and bar area. When they reached out with concerns about leaks inside their building, we teamed up with the owners to find the best solution, and a full roof replacement quickly became clear.

Navigating Project Complexities

To get to the roof, we had to carefully remove the existing paver system and bar seating without disrupting the space more than necessary. To keep things smooth for Jimmy Madison’s customers, we scheduled the work during their off-season, taking advantage of the cooler winter and early spring months when the outdoor area sees less traffic.

Out with the Old and in with the New

The roof we’re replacing had two layers: an older black EPDM membrane with EPS insulation underneath, topped by a gravel built-up roof on the deck. We removed both layers and installed a new tapered insulation system designed to channel water efficiently from a high point in the middle of the roof down to the drains around the edges, helping prevent pooling and leaks.

Committed to Protecting a Community Favorite

Our crew is expertly adhering the insulation to the built-up roof using foam adhesive. Once that’s done, we’ll lay down the EPDM membrane and carefully seal it to the walls with aluminum termination bars and counter flashing, ensuring a watertight, long-lasting finish. As we near the finish line, our team is focused on wrapping up the roofing work so the paver system can be reinstalled and this city staple restaurant can open fresh and ready for the spring season.
